Asbestos Surveys
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 place a legal duty on anyone with responsibility for the maintenance and repair of non-domestic premises and common areas of rented domestic premises to:-
- Establish whether Asbestos is present and where it is located
- Assume that Asbestos is present unless proved otherwise
- Record all findings and assumptions
- Monitor the condition of any Asbestos
- Implement plans to manage the risk from any Asbestos
- Provide information to those in contact with Asbestos
Certa Safety Ltd specialise in undertaking impartial Asbestos Management Surveys, in accordance with the HSE guidance publication ‘HSG264 – Asbestos: The Survey Guide’ and all of our assessors are BOHS P402 accredited.
The purpose of the Management Survey is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspect ACMs in the building which, could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy; including foreseeable maintenance and installation, and to assess their condition.
The survey will usually involve sampling and analysis. However a management survey can also involve presuming the presence or absence of asbestos. Samples taken are then analysed by a UKAS accredited laboratory and the results used to compile a register of the ACMs within the premises.
